General questions

What is the Brainster Math program?

Brainster Math is an online after-school math program for Kindergarten to 10th grade students. Our goal is to develop math fluency for students to overcome the fear of math and become as fluent in math as their mother tongue.

Our progressive learning methodology helps students become experts in math by working through simple to complex mathematical problems over time. We believe every child has the potential to excel in math with the right guidance and resources.

What is Brainster Math’s mission?

Our mission is to create millions of creative thinkers and problem solvers.  We want our students to be fluent in math and treat this as a critical life skill rather than another subject to work on at school. Our vision is that fluency will lead to loving math and appreciating its role as nature’s language. We accomplish our mission by delivering a world-class educational experience by combining interactive content with personalized learning methodologies.

What does your curriculum cover?

Our curriculum covers everything from basic arithmetic to pre-calculus in 15 levels. Our curriculum includes thousands of word problems and is aligned with US educational standards. Built around problem-solving, our curriculum
enables students to succeed in their school math classes. Our methodology emphasizes numerical fluency and applied skills with spaced repetition. You can check our curriculum here: Curriculum.

What is your teaching methodology?

We offer weekly online lessons where our trained tutors demonstrate problem-solving techniques using a whiteboard. Homework for the week continues on the same topic to help them master the topic.

What about the quality of teachers?

Our tutors are graduates from top universities around the world, and they are all STEM experts, with some even holding PhDs.  Only 1% of the applicants are selected as tutors at Brainster Math, ensuring that we hire only the most competitive candidates.

How are your teachers trained and monitored?

All our tutors undergo a rigorous training process before they begin teaching. Our teachers are closely monitored through regular performance reviews, student feedback, and classroom observations. We use these insights to provide ongoing professional development and ensure that each tutor maintains our high standards of instruction.

How does your curriculum differ from traditional school or tuition methods?

Our curriculum offers interactive problem-solving, real-world applications, and continuous progress tracking—all aligned with U.S. standards. Many of our students across the U.S. have advanced into Gifted & Talented Math programs after joining us.

Do your tutors cover the topics from my child’s school curriculum?

Our curriculum aligns with the essential topics covered in standard school programs, ensuring a strong academic foundation. It is thoughtfully designed to reinforce core concepts while introducing practical, real-world applications for effective learning.

How does your program match the age of the children?

We create a personalized learning plan based on your child's current grade and performance in the assessment test. Age is not a factor in determining the appropriate level for their learning journey.

Is Brainster Math meant for advanced students or those who need extra help?

Our program caters to all kids, whether they are math enthusiasts or those who find the subject daunting. We adapt each lesson to your child’s current skill level, offering a customized learning experience that addresses their individual needs and helps them succeed.

Is it possible to enroll my child at any time during the year?

Our program allows students to join at any time of the year without missing out. Learning is personalized, so your child's entry point aligns with their current level of understanding, independent of school session schedules.

How do I enroll into your program?

Before enrolment, your child is required to take an assessment test. The result will help us place your child at the appropriate level to ensure the best learning experience. We will then guide you through the enrollment process.

Why is there a need to take an assessment test?

The objective of the assessment test is to gain a clear picture of your child’s current math proficiency, which allows us to create a customized learning plan that aligns with their specific needs.

What type of questions are in the assessment test?

Our assessment tests are designed to measure essential math skills and concepts critical for student success. They include a variety of questions covering grade-level skills and some advanced concepts unique to our program.

At what age can children start studying at Brainster Math?

At Brainster Math, kids can start as young as four years old and continue their education through grade 10. Beginning early helps them build foundational skills and gain long-term advantages.

How long does it take to complete each level?

If the student is regular with their homework and attends the weekly online sessions, we anticipate each level to be completed in 4 months.

How much homework is assigned per day?

We advise that the student spends about 20-25 minutes on their homework each day. There are around 40-50 math problems that need to be worked on each day, so it’s like a daily brain workout.

Why do students need to complete worksheets every day?

Daily worksheets are like a daily jog for the brain. A small, consistent effort each day is more effective than long study sessions with breaks, helping students learn efficiently and make quicker progress. It also fosters good study habits and a positive attitude towards learning.
